Samara

Samara was founded in 1586 as a defense outpost and grew into a major trading center of the Volga region. Now it's a major industrial, scientific, and university center of Russia, and one of the most beautiful places along the Volga, with its two magnificent embankments stretching for miles along the river. The old part of Samara has many charming wooden houses and large parks.
